An Intimate Editorial Wedding on the Ligurian Coast
When Beatrice and Stella, a couple from San Francisco (a city we love and visited in April 2025), reached out to us, we immediately felt their vision.
They didn’t want a grand production or a traditional timeline. They dreamed of something quiet, meaningful, and deeply personal. A wedding that truly felt like them.
Surrounded by the stunning Ligurian coastline, timeless villages between Cinque Terre and Portofino, and only their closest loved ones, their wedding became one of the most emotional and visually captivating celebrations we’ve had the honor to photograph.
Villa Riviera Resort – A Hidden Gem between Portofino and Cinque Terre
Located in Lavagna, Liguria, Villa Riviera Resort is a luxurious yet intimate venue set on a hill overlooking the sea.
With its restored villas, 15,000 m² park, infinity pool, and soft Mediterranean light, it perfectly reflects what makes weddings in Liguria so special: understated elegance, natural beauty, and emotional authenticity.
The ceremony took place in the villa’s lush gardens, embraced by olive trees and sea breeze. The result was an atmosphere of deep connection and cinematic grace (yes that kind of cinematic wedding that we love!.
A Boat Party in Portofino – The Day Before
The celebration began the evening before the wedding with a private boat party in Portofino.
As the sun set over the Ligurian sea, laughter echoed across the water. Friends toasted, music played softly, and the sky turned shades of pink and gold. It reminded me this awesome celebration in lake Maggiore!
It was the perfect prelude to a wedding that would be all about connection, light, and joy.
Why Liguria Is Perfect for Intimate Destination Weddings
Fewer Guests, Deeper Emotions
Beatrice and Stella chose to keep their guest list short, surrounded only by their closest family and friends. This intimacy amplified every glance, every laugh, every tear — turning small moments into unforgettable memories. Liguria, especially Cinque Terre and Portofino, offers endless cinematic backdrops: pastel villages, sea cliffs, hidden coves, and golden hour light. Every corner feels like a film set, perfect for editorial wedding photography. I would absolutely say that’s it’s quite similar to Amalfi Coast!
Documentary + Editorial Photography Approach
As editorial wedding photographers in Liguria (well, we actually work everywhere), we blend authentic documentary storytelling with refined, cinematic composition. From quiet, emotional exchanges to dynamic coastal portraits, our goal is to create images that feel both real and timeless. Savanah and Tyler’s Wedding in Lake Como is a good example of great wedding with few guests in Italy)
LGBTQ+ Love and Inclusion
This story is also a celebration of LGBTQ+ weddings in Italy. Beatrice and Stella’s union is part of a broader narrative — modern, inclusive, and full of freedom.
For us, photographing love in all its forms is not only an honor, it’s a statement: beauty belongs to everyone.
